Newcastle West 2-13 Mungret St. Pauls 1-15
After the high of last week the Junior Hurlers faced into a quarter final on Sunday 2 October. There was a lot of mixed emotion at this match where the game favored both teams at different times and drew even many times even up to the last few minutes of injury time in the game where it would come to the next score wins.
Mungret St. Pauls fought hard in The Bog Garden. The first 15 minutes saw Mungret St. Pauls take a lead and lose it and regain it again to draw even. They then pulled ahead with a two point advantage only to see a goal for Newcastle West change the scales again but only for a short while as the first half closed with the score on 0-10 to 1-7.
The second half Mungret St. Pauls took off and with only 10 minutes of the second half played they had widened the gap by five points having put the sliotar in the back of the net in the opening few minutes of the second half. Like a tennis match the score drew another 4 times before the whistle went and Mungret St. Pauls dreams of County glory were dashed by one sliotar over the bar giving Newcastle West the win.
