On Saturday 1 October in Kilmallock both Mungret St. Pauls and Glenroe had a lot riding on this match, the winner not only got to go onto the final but also got the honours of being promoted to Premier Intermediate. By the first 14 minutes of the match 6 points had been scored with both sides taking 3 points each. Mungret St. Pauls had the breeze in this half but did not take advantage of it as they left half time one point down to Glenroe. Mungret St.Pauls 0-7 Gleroe 0-8.
The words spoken at half time worked as Mungret St. Pauls came outwith a fighting spirit knowing what was on the line, in the 40th minute Mungret St. Pauls had the edge with a point lead which did not last long and in the last 10 minutes Mungret St. Pauls went from level score to pull ahead to be in charge of play with a two point advantage. The final whistle was not heard as the players and Mungret St. Pauls supporters began celebrating, all the hard work has finaly payed off.
