The third last round of the U12 league took place on the juvenile pitch last Thursday 15 September against Doon. Some of our players had a night off after their efforts the previous evening, and many others spent most of the time on the bench, so we had an experimental look taking to the field. As it happened, the back 3 of Ellie Mulqueen, Aela Gleeson and Ella Mason were simply outstanding, not giving our opponents a sniff of goal in the first half despite being under constant pressure. Their task was helped by some superb covering play from Leah Nolan. Rachel Lynch was also extremely busy and effective at midfield, The last play of the half saw Ciara O’Keeffe take a pass from Zoe Page which she planted in the net, to give us an unexpected lead. Rachel Connolloy and Erin O’Connell were particularly effective in the forwards also. Doon had the slope in the second half and piled on the pressure. A goalbound shot was superbly saved by Ella Page to keep us ahead, with the clearance transferring quickly between Caoimhe Holmes, Grace O’Keeffe and Amy O’Halloran, who notched the insurance point. Lucy Connolly and Caoimhe O’Rourke worked hard to keep the ball in our opponents half, while Aoife Long and Saoirse Casey were introduced into the full back line with no loss in quality and Ciara Brennan kept the forwards supplied from the half back line in the closing stages. This was a great win for the team which consisted of: Amy O’Halloran, Ellie Mulqueen, Aela Gleeson, Ella Mason, Leah Nolan, Rachel Lynch, Zoe Page, Grace O’Keeffe, Ciara O’Keeffe, Rachel Connolly, Erin O’Connell, Ella Page, Saoirse Casey, Ciara Brennan, Caoimhe Holmes, Caoimhe O’Rourke, Aoife Long, Lucy Connolly.

Training takes place for the remainder of the season at 6:30 on the juvenile pitch. Thanks to Mike Barry and his U10 boys crew for scrunching up to make some space for us. There are three remaining rounds of the u12 camogie league, throw in 6:30 in all cases:
