While we had too few players at a match last week, we had the very opposite problem for our U-12 league match against Na Piarsaigh on the village pitch last Thursday 8 Sept. No fewer than twenty four players showed up for duty, and Albert O’Grady found himself in the role of quartermaster as he rationed out the limited supply of jerseys. We contested this game with two different teams in each half, both of whom played superbly against a full-strength opponent who have four players in the county camp. The final result was 3-5 to 1-1 in favour of the visitors, but Mungret camogie have rarely if ever had so many players competing in a single match , and it bodes extremely well for the future of the club. Special mention to Caoimhe O’Rourke who played despite being injured.
