There was great excitement on Thursday night 21 July in the horse track in Patrickswell where Limerick GAA had organised a great day for players. The highlight of the night was the charity run where nominated players from clubs were put forward to race each other. Representing Mungret St. Pauls was Intermediate Hurling captain Eoin O'Doherty. Running against Eoin were players from Ballybrown, Ballysteen, Bruff, Cappamore, Crecora, Croom, Killeedy, Pallasgreen, Patrickswell, Rathkeale. This match has gone down in history and not for it being the first race but as a lot of you may of seen when the lead runner started to look back at the red jersey narrowing his lead ended up tripping in the final furlong and Bruff were the winners. Eoin came in at a respectable forth place.
