On behalf of the U11 coaches we would like to say a massive congratulations to the players from Mungret St Pauls who won the schools U11 A hurling final with St Nessan’s National Schools.
These set of players have many skills and this has been reflected over the past month where some of the players have represented the community ‘Regional’ in many of the community games activities. The hurling is still in progress where they won their first two games against Bruff and Ahane.
The U11 Hurling league started last Wednesday night. Here we played Na Piarsaigh in Na Piarsaigh. This game gave the mentors an opportunity to try our players in new positions. Fintan Fitzgerald excelled in goals, giving Diarmaid Hynes an opportunity to play outfield where he was like a little terrier in midfield, scoring two great goals. In defence Cian Moloney at full back and Conor Galligan at corner back excelled. John Wright cleaned up at half-back. In the forwards Mark O’Brien was exceptional scoring some lovely points with the best one from a side-line cut near the end line. He was supported by Tom Lloyd in the half-forwards along with Muiris Ahern and Luke Walsh. Marcus Lyons again was the engine in the middle of the field.
Training will continue on Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm to 7:30pm.
