Mungret St. Pauls regret to announce the passing of our Junior A Hurling manager, PJ Garvey.

Coming from a family steeped in GAA, PJ was involved with Hospital Herbertstown, Ballybricken Bohermoher and Mungret St. Pauls. As a youngster it was evident he was a naturally gifted dual player, achieving many titles with his club. He began to wear the Green and white jersey of Limerick at Primary level in 1983 and played his way through all grades in both Hurling and Football winning an All Ireland medal with his secondary school along the way and being part of the 1991 Limerick Senior Football final when Limerick were narrowly defeated by Kerry.

In 2019 PJ joined the management of our Junior A hurling team. In July 2021, PJ, the management team and players brought great success to the club when the Junior A Hurling team won the City League title they then went on to win the County League title in PJ's notable absence, the eve of his father passing earlier this month. There will be a big void in not just the Junior A Hurling group but in Mungret St. Pauls and the Garvey and O'Doherty families as PJ will be greatly missed by all who knew him as a husband, father, brother, uncle, player, supporter, coach and friend.

Condolences to his wife, Sheila, sons, Conor and James and their partners, brothers, sisters, mother in law, brothers and sisters in law, nephews, nieces and extended family and friends.
