Mungret St. Pauls 1-20 Newcastle West 2-17
It was a great day for this match set in Croagh on Saturday 14 May. Mungret St. Pauls were well prepared for the game ahead as was Newcastle West. We put the first point onto the score board but Newcastle West were hot on our heals and evened the score. Any lead we had was quickly taken and then Newcastle West took the lead and held onto it for the majority of the game. Mungret St. Pauls were off target on a lot of scoring chances which was reflected on the score board.
The supporters were definatly getting their moneys worth and like all good stories they had to wait til the very end for the twist as it was as the sun was setting on match that the action appeared at the Newcastle West goal mouth and after the first tusstle at the goal was unsuccessful, this one brought the supporters to their feet as the sliotar in the final minutes of the match was shot into the back of the net to bring the game to an end on a draw.
This draw brings Mungret St. Pauls to the top of the group on scoring difference just ahead of Newcastle West. With only 2 games played and another 3 to go big wins are needed. Next outting is against Hospital Herbertstown.
