Mungret St. Pauls 2-15 Ballybrown 1-10
The first round of the City Intermediate Hurling Championship between Ballybrown and Mungret St Pauls took place in Ballybrown on Sunday evening last at 6 pm. Mungret started very quickly and had a goal and five points before Ballybrown realised that there was a game on. The remainder of the first half saw ballybrown score two points from frees whilst Mungret scored four points to leave the interval score 1-9 to 0-2 in favour of Mungret. There must have been a few inspiration words at the break from the Ballybrown mentors as on the resumption of play they Blitzed Mungret for a goal and six points to a single pointed free to see the deficit reduced to just 2 points. Mungret got a second wind and outscored ballybrown by 1-5 to 0-2 to leave the final score Ballybrown 1-10 to Mungret St Pauls 2-15.
The strong wind was a significant factor in this game for both sides and were it not for some wayward shooting from the Ballybrown lads the final outcome might have been closer.
Final Score: Ballybrown 1-10 to Mungret St Pauls 2-15.
