Last weekend Limerick hosted the U14 Eileen Carmody Inter County Blitz in both Kileedy and Ballyagran. Mungret are hugely proud of the fact that this year we are represented on the panel by the following players: Aoife Morrissey, Ailbhe Larkin, Fiona Meehan, Sarah Fitzgibbon & Niamh Browne. With some fine performance in the group stages and semi finals both Limerick teams qualifed for there perspective finals in the A & C competitions. In the C final Limerick were narrowly beaten by kilkenny by one point in a very evenly matched encounter well done to Niamh Browne and Sarah Fitgibbon and their team mates on their performances throughout the competition. Limerick A with Mungret girls Aoife Morrissey, Ailbhe Larkin, Fiona Meehan involved needed extra time to see off the challenge of a strong Cork team in the semi-final to face Tipperary in the final. In a nail bitting encounter Limerick put in a sterling performance and were rewarded with a well deserved victory by the slimmest of margins taking the title of A champions. Mungret Player Aoife Morrissey was given the honour of captaining her team and graciously accepted the cup on behalf of her team mates and mentors. Well done to all involved with both squads and thanks to both Kileedy & Ballyagran for the hospitality afforded to our players and parents.
