Last Saturday our U6, U8 and U10 girls finished off their football for the year by taking part in the Annual Ahane blitz. This year’s blitz was held on a cold but dry morning on the perfectly prepared LIT pitches, having been rearranged due to poor weather earlier in the year. It featured over 300 girls representing clubs from all over Limerick, and Mungret St Pauls were very well represented on the day with over 55 girls togged out in the red and white.

Our girls put in a great morning’s football, playing keenly contested and sporting matches and giving the travelling support plenty to cheer. The standard of football on show from all of them was a credit to the hard work they have put in on Saturday mornings over the past year.

A special word for our U6’s who played a series of great games against the host club. Most of these girls were playing in their first blitz and they took to it superbly, showing some super skills – the future of the club looks bright! As always, Ahane club ran this day like clockwork and provided wonderful refreshments for all afterwards. We would like to thank them for organising such a well-run and fun morning, and we look forward to attending again next year.

The coaches would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents who have brought the girls to training and blitzes in such numbers since the start of the year. It is very much appreciated. We will take a short break now for the winter before returning in the New Year. Our end of year award night takes place this Friday night, 22 nd of November in the Club House at 7pm, and we look forward to seeing you all there!
