Mungret St. Pauls 3-6 St. Patricks 0-9

These two sides had met only a few weeks ago so were familiar with each other, Mungret St. Pauls did not have a great game when they played in Rhebogue, this match was a better game with the result they were looking for when they met in Patrickswell on Saturday 5 October 2019 in the City Championship Final. Looking back Mungret St. Pauls had the game won by the first 23 minutes where they did most of their scoring, St. Patricks tried to make a come back but were not strong enough.

Mungret St. Pauls had the best start they could when the ball hit the back of the net. St. Patricks replied but with a point, moments later Mungret St. Pauls hit the net again to bring their lead to 5 points in only 7 minutes of play. St. Patricks replied again with another point, it was at this stage that Mungret St. Pauls scored their first point. There was a point a piece before Mungret St. Pauls scored their third goal with seven minutes left in the first half, Mungret St. Pauls had all their work done but could not drop their guard. There was one final point from Mungret St. Pauls before the half time break.

The second half, Mungret St. Pauls opened the score with a point, they put pressure on the St. Patricks backs but St. Patricks goalie was very alert. St. Patricks made a bit of a come back as they scored 4 points unanswered, they went for a goal but the quick feet of the Mungret St. Pauls goalie put a stop to any ball going over the line. Just going into the final quarter of the game Mungret St. Pauls their next point. St, Patricks rallied again but only managed 2 more points before Mungret St. Pauls sealed the game up with their last point. They were awarded the cup at the end of the match but it is not all over for St. Patricks as both teams go forward to play in the county quarter finals next week.
