Mungret St. Pauls 0-7 Old Mill 0-8
Conditions were very good for this final in Mick Neville Park on Friday 4 October. It was an emotional match as it had been postponed previously, John O'Malley had a lot of involvement with this team and the club. The Limerick Motor Centre sponsored Intermediate Ladies Football have been searching for the senior title for a few years while Old Mill had only just come from the junior ranks this year. It was a great match with both sides putting everything into the game, unfortunately for Mungret St. Pauls there was one point that they could not get that won it for Old Mill.

Before the game kicked off a minutes silence was held in memory of John O'Malley. Mungret St. Pauls started out strong with a 3 point lead , Old Mill pointed their first point at 10 minutes and quickly followed it up with another point. It was on the fifteenth minute that the game was leveled by Old Mill, Old Mill then took the lead in the next minute. It was not until near the end of the first half that Mungret St. Pauls drew the game with a super point. Old Mill managed to squeeze one more point in before the game broke for half time.

Mungret St. Pauls went to try for a goal it was saved to a point to even the game again in the opening minutes of the half. Old Mill went on and scored another 2 points but Mungret St. Pauls were not taking the Old Mill scores easy as they came back to score their next point in the tenth minute of the second half, a free for Mungret St. Pauls with 8 minutes left brought both sides level once again. The game could be anyones but Mungret St. Pauls were kicking more wides that Old Mill who were using the ball economically. Old Mill scored what was the winning point from a free with six minutes left on the clock. Mungret St. Pauls defense were very quick in their reactions when the ball came near and worked the ball well up the field. Mungret St. Pauls went for another shot to level the game but the upright got in the way as it was sent wide. The Mungret St. Pauls forwards were attacking hard on the tight Old Mill defense. It was not to be for Mungret St. Pauls as they congratulated Old Mill on their win and promotion to the Senior championship for next year. With our strong groups of younger players coming up through the ranks Mungret St. Pauls will be able to build on an already skillful team to come back next year.
