Mungret St. Pauls 0-17 Doon 1-22

Not a good day for our Minor Hurlers as they took on a strong Doon team in the Gaelic Grounds under lights on Wednesday 11 September. A game where Mungret St. Pauls left it too late to look for goals.

The game started out with both sides equaling scores, 3 points each. Doon took off and doubled their score before Mungret St. Pauls pointed again. Mungret St. Pauls were not winning their own puck outs which is where Doon took over and punished Mungret St. Pauls on the score board, they took what chances they could and this time they struck a goal. Doon kept working on their score until the difference was 8 points, Mungret St. Pauls had a lot of work ahead of them but they did not give up as they pointed another 2 sliotars only for Doon to equal them. Into the last 10 minutes of the game Mungret St. Pauls started to fight back and with 3 unanswered points they had narrowed the gap to 5 points. There were 7 very quick scores in the final minuted of the first half with Mungret St. Pauls only getting 3 of these.

Mungret St. Pauls had a better start to the last 30 minutes as they scored 2 points. It took Doon only 7 minutes to get back into the game and they pointed their own 2 points. 3 points each brought the game into the final 10 minutes, this was where Mungret St. Pauls started to work on getting a goal but each attempt was denied and cleared out. Mungret St. Pauls only pointed one last time from a free and it was Doon who closed out the game with their last point.

Well done to the Minor hurlers and their mentors for getting themselves into the Semi Final, the stronger team on the night won.
