Mungret St. Pauls 1-27 Garryspillane 3-9
On a sunny but cold breezy evening, Wednesday 4 September in Mungret the Minor Hurlers played the last of their group matches. They needed a win if they were to go through to the semi final. This was a great game to finish off the group stages with 8 different scorers in the first half, everyone on the team played their part.

Mungret St. Pauls started the game with the breeze and opened the score with the ball being kicked over the bar, 2 more points followed. Garryspillane opened with a pointed free, Mungret St. Pauls misguided 2 shots before Garryspillane pointed for the second time. Mungret St. Pauls settled into the game pointing another 2 balls before Garryspillane got their third score of the half. The one side went on to point another 6 balls before a shot on goal was saved but the rebound was sent to the net giving Mungret St. Pauls an eleven point lead. It did not take Garryspillane too long to step up their gears and with a clean shot hit the net for themselves, added to it another point Mungret St. Pauls needed to keep the pressure on. With 2 more great points from play for Mungret St. Pauls they knew Garryspillane needed to hit the 3 pointers and with a battle on the goal line they eventually got the ball over the line for their second goal, only 6 points separated them. There were only 7 points scored in the last ten minutes of the game. Mungret St. Pauls only getting 3 of these, half time score Mungret St. Pauls 1-16, Garryspillane 2-8.

The second half began strong again for Mungret St. Pauls, 4 points in the first 10 minutes before Garryspillane rattled the net for the third time. Mungret St. Pauls were trying to get another ball into the Garryspillane net but the backs were too quick in their reactions and denied all attempts. Mungret St. Pauls continued to score another 3 points, a free for Garryspillane gave them their last point in the game. Mungret St. Pauls closed out the game with an additional 4 points bringing them 12 points ahead and definite winners. Mungret St. Pauls were still getting pressure put on them in the backs but the ball was returned to play.
This win and the rest of the results from the group left Mungret St. Pauls in third position and a Semi Final place against Doon
