Mungret St. Pauls 1-9 Patrickswell 1-7
This was the fist time out for the Minor hurlers in a month on Wednesday 14 August 2019 in Mungret, they got the result they were after but worked hard to get it. There were more wides from both sides than points which could have turned the game.

Mungret St. Pauls were first out of the blocks and had 3 points on the board before Patrickswell got 2 points on the run. Mungret St. Pauls pointed another 2 balls but followed it up with a few wides giving Patrickswell a chance to catch up which they did with the aid of 3 placed balls. There was a heavy downpour for a few minutes which made play hard. There was a lot of work put into the game from Mungret St. Pauls but they were not converting it into scores. A shot on goal from Mungret St. Pauls was denied and sent back out the field but it was quickly returned and sent to the back of the net. Patrickswell closed out the half with their sixth wide, only a goal separated the sides.

Patrickswell came out firing in the second half and and narrowed the gap to 2 points with another placed ball. There were 8 scoring chances between the sides, Patrickswell sent their three off course while Mungret St. Pauls only pointed one of their five attempts. Mungret St. Pauls sent 2 more balls over the bar, it was then Patrickswells turn to put the pressure on but Mungret St. Pauls were tight in their defense and forced the balls to go wide. Mungret St. Pauls pointed their last score from a free and Patrickswell changed the game in the dying minutes as they scored from play. An attack on the goals was brilliantly denied by our goalie but this was not deterring Patrickswell determination to get the ball into the back of the net, it was not a case of if they would score a goal it was when would they score. There were 2 close range frees but the bodies on the goal line held out and bounced the ball back out into play the first time, the second went for a 65. The 65 was shot and with a bit of help saw the net, 2 points divided the sides but injury time was running out and with no more chances to score, Mungret St. Pauls took the win and move into forth place on the leader board with 4 more games to play in 2 weeks they have a lot of work ahead of them.
