Mungret St. Pauls 2-19 Old Christians 0-17

On Saturday 20 July in fine weather, Mungret St. Pauls and Old Christians out everything they had into the game in Crecora. This was a physical game with both sides giving everything they had with Mungret St. Pauls getting the better on the score board.

Both sides kept in touch with each other for the first 20 minutes going 7 points each. Finishing off the half Mungret St. Pauls pointed 2 more from frees and the last puck of the half was a point from play, Mungret St. Pauls 3 points in the lead.

The second half was a bit more give and take with Mungret St. Pauls holding the lead through out. The first 3 points of the restart came from frees with Old Christians narrowing the gap to 2 points. A ball passed up the field was quickly passed to a waiting Mungret St. Pauls forward who neatly tucked the ball into the back of the net. It went point for point for the next 8 scores, then Mungret St. Pauls edged ahead with an extra 2 points but Old Christians put more pressure on and pointed 3 on the trot, another point a piece and with both sides searching for a goal, it was Mungret St. Pauls that succeeded in getting past the Old Christians defense and they topped it off with another point from play.

This was a great result for our Junior A hurlers.
