On a night where the dark sky was a distant rain cloud the Junior hurlers welcomed Hospital Herbertstown to Mungret on Wednesday 22 May 2019. Mungret St. Pauls had a slow start, they made up the gap on the score but were just short of two points by the final whistle.

The visitors started the score board running with both a point and a goal. Mungret St. Pauls settled into the game and sent 2 balls over the cross bar from play. Hospital Herbertstown replied with a second point, it then turned to Mungret St. Pauls to take charge and they took the ball to the oppositions back, broke through the defenses and struck the ball into the corner of the net, this was accompanied with a point from a free. Mungret St. Pauls then came on strong again and goaled for the second time, this gave them a 5 point lead. Hospital Herbertstown squeezed another point in before Mungret St. Pauls shot another 3 on target. The next 6 points were shared between the teams and just before the half time whistle Hospital Herbertstown struck the net again and tacked on another point. The lead was down to 2 points to Mungret St. Pauls.

The second half had our backs under pressure with our goalie pulling off a great save in the opening minutes of the game. It went point for point again for five more rounds, Hospital Herbertstown were being denied goals a few times in during the play, Mungret St. Pauls were a little luckier as the Hospital Herbertstown goalie was drawn out of the goals the ball landed at the Mungret St. Pauls forwards feet and was struck over the line to give Mungret St. Pauls their third goal of the game. Within a minute Hospital Herbertstown struck back with their third goal and with an added point had leveled the game. Another point for point, Hospital Herbertstown then went 5 unanswered points with Mungret St. Pauls coming back and scoring the next four points to be one point behind Hospital Herbertstown. With time running out, Hospital Herbertstown pointed again with a 2 point lead. Mungret St. Pauls received a free from the 45 yard line, the ball was dropped in front of the goal but all the bodies prevented the ball from going the distance. A second free closer to the goals ended the same going back out the field to the sound of the final whistle.
