Mungret St. Pauls 0-15 Ballybrown 3-10

We always know we will get a good game out of our neighbours, this was no exception on Thursday 9 May in Clarina. A game where our younger players proved themselves. It was 3 unlucky goals that caused the damage but Mungret St. Pauls put in a lot of work in the second half to bring the loss to 4 points.

It was Ballybrown that made use of their first few chances to score going up a goal and 2 points before Mungret St Pauls worked up their reply from a free and a point from play. Ballybrown scored another point before they took another chance with the sun beating down on the Mungret St. Pauls goals they shot the ball past our goalie. Our next puck out was won by a green jersey and sent back over the cross bar. Mungret St. Pauls worked the ball up the slope and pointed 2 more times. When the ball went down toward the Mungret St. Pauls backs from the right side of the pitch the ball was struck into the air and passed the backs to roll into the far corner of the net giving Ballybrown their final goal and a ten point led. Mungret St. Pauls were on the back foot from then. Mungret St. Pauls were using both sides of the pitch working the ball and scored another great point. Ballybrown went one more up just before the break.

The second half was a better game for Mungret St. Pauls as they had settled into the game, there was a point a piece and then the Ballybrown puck out was sent straight to the hands of a Mungret St. Pauls player and back over the bar . Nearly loosing posession Mungret St. Pauls clung on and scored another point. There was another 2 points a piece. Ballybrown only had another point in them while Mungret St. Pauls went on to narrow the game to 4 points with their next 5 points. There is no rest for these players as they take to the field again on Saturday at home at 7pm.
