Mungret St. Pauls 2-9 Na Piarsaigh 3-14
Mungret St. Pauls started out strong but Na Piarsaigh did not take long to catch up on the score and Mungret St. Pauls were chasing their tail for the rest of the match in miserable weather in Mick Neville Park on Saturday 16 March 2019.

Before the game started John Van Veen and Brian Mullane had to take a bucket and muck scraper to empty the water logged goal mouth. Na Piarsaigh opened the game with a point but Mungret St. Pauls did not take too long to even the score and then pulled ahead adding on another 3 points on the trot. There was some great team work played to the lead up to what could have been a goal for Mungret St. Pauls but a foul determined the play went to a penalty for Mungret St. Pauls which hit the top corner of the net to bring Mungret St.Pauls 5 points ahead. Na Piarsaigh tried for their own goal but it was expertly denied resulting in a pointed 65 for Na Piarsaigh. Just as the first quarter of the match was closing Mungret St. Pauls added another 2 points to their score. This seemed to be the turning point of the game and Mungret St. Pauls 6 point lead started to disappear as Na Piarsaigh scored their own goal and pointed 2 placed balls. Mungret St. Pauls managed another point before Na Piarsaigh hit hard with their second goal. Mungret St. Pauls were on the back foot and with another point from Na Piarsaigh the first half ended with Mungret St. Pauls 2 points behind after achieving a 6 point lead.

The second half Mungret St. Pauls needed to put everything they had into the game, this unfortunately did not happen for Mungret St. Pauls with a string wind against them they had a lot to do. The game reopened with a point a piece and then Na Piarsaigh struck again and sent the sliotar rattling to the back of the net. A pointed free a piece and then Na Piarsaigh went on to score another 4 points unanswered, going 9 points up. Mungret St. Pauls pushed on and scored their second goal followed by a pointed free only to have Na Piarsaigh knock it all with 3 points from play to close out the season for our U-21 players. There were some highlights of great play from Mungret St. Pauls with the defense working hard under pressure and midfields battling to feed the ball into the forwards.
