Mungret St. Pauls 2-5 Doon 1-7
This was the game we were chasing and eventually got a win under our belt. Doon had nothing to loose while Mungret St. Pauls needed the win to see them through to the quarter finals in the last of their group games in Knocklong on 19 February 2019.

The strong breeze was a big factor to the game as Doon shot 10 wides with the wind behind them to Mungret St. Pauls 3 in the first half. Mungret St. Pauls pointed first but Doons reply was was a hard blow when they struck the ball into the back of the net, they followed it up with a point. Mungret St. Pauls fought back and when the ball was sent infront of the goal it was met by 3 hurleys with the Mungret St. Pauls hurley striking it to the back of the net to draw the game. There was a long gap in scoring as Doon sent the ball wide 4 times to Mungret St. Pauls 2. On the 16th minute of the game Mungret St. Pauls pulled ahead with a point from play. A pointed 65 by Doon saw the sides level again. With 5 minutes left on the clock each side scored another point a piece to draw for the third time, just before the whistle Doon slipped ahead with a free.

Mungret St. Pauls had the strong wind in the second half and needed to take a win in the game to go through, Doon were already straight through. Mungret St. Pauls struggled to score in the opening minutes of the second half while Doon went 3 points up. There was a free a piece which left Doon still with a 3 point lead. The pitch was sticky so when the ball landed at the Doon goal there was a bit of a struggle but Mungret St. Pauls came off on top with the ball in the back foo the Doon net for the second time, bringing the game back to a draw again, this brought us into the last 10 minutes of the game all Mungret St. Pauls had to do was keep the draw. Doon were kept at bay as Mungret St. Pauls kept the pressure on their next score which they got in the last 5 minutes, keeping the play in the Doon half of the pitch was the biggest job the players had to do and they achieved it.
They now progress into the quarter finals with Kilmallock with Doon going straight into semi finals with Patrickswell from group 1 we now wait until early March to find out who we play.
