It was with regrettable sadness Mungret St. Pauls heard of the passing of one of its stalwarts, Anthony McGann. Anthony stood as chairman in the club for three years from 1985 and was instrumental in the building of the community centre.
Anthony played with the club from a young age and was one of the players that won the County Minor Hurling Championship in 1975. From an early age he was involved in administrative duties in the club and with the city for a few years. He took on the role of County Board Delegate for Mungret St. Pauls and one of his proudest moments for the club was at the opening of the Community Centre in May 1987 just before his rein of chairman ended.
As a selector for a number of teams Anthony kept his involvement in the game. He was a person of great integrity and a command of great respect. He was always a fair minded and calm person.
The club would like to extend their sincerest sympathies to Mary, Anthony's wife, to his son Adrian and daughter Clara, to his brothers also past players in the club, Dom and Joe and to his sister Mary, extended family and many friends.
Mungret St. Pauls and Ballybrown have lost a gentleman.
