Mungret St. Pauls 0-11 Garryspillane 1-8

This was a game that was Mungret St. Pauls to take but were lucky to finish on a draw in miserable weather on Saturday 9 February 2019.

It took 15 minutes for Mungret St. Pauls to put up a score while 2 frees for Garryspillane saw their only points in the first half. 2 frees for Mungret St. Pauls went left of the goal but it was scores from play in the 15th and 16th minute that drew the game. The second half was where Garryspillane fought back they secured a pointed free followed by a Mungret St. Pauls score from play only to have the turning point of the game when Garryspillane saw their chance and saw the ball into the corner of the net to leave only a one point lead to Mungret St. Pauls, another free for Garryspillane drew the game again. Mungret St. Pauls broke through the midfields to get the ball over the bar. A well taken point for Mungret St. Pauls made them look good but still struggling when Garryspillane narrowed the gap to a point with their first point from play. A pointed free a piece before the ball was sent dangerously infront of the Mungret St. Pauls goal from a free to be declared a square ball to Mungret St. Pauls relief. Mungret St. Pauls struck one more free over the bar before Garryspillane drawing the game with 2 more points.

Garryspillane got most of their scores from play but what saved Mungret St. Pauls were the 11 wides Garryspillane threw away (4 from frees). Mungret St. Pauls only had 6 misses - 3 from frees. There is more in this team and it will be great to see them bring it to the match against Kilmallock next week.
