Mungret St. Pauls 1-7 Newcastle West 1-16

This was the last game for the year for Mungret St. Pauls when they played Newcastle West in the Bog Garden on Saturday 10 November 2018. It took Mungret St. Pauls a while to get going and when they did were unable to catch up to Newcastle West.

The game started with our backs under fire from Newcastle West, they pointed 2 of their 4 chances. On the 6th minute Mungret St. Pauls struck the ball but wide of the post. Newcastle West went one more up before Mungret St. Pauls attacked again, this time on the goal but it was caught and sent out. Into the 11th minute Mungret St. Pauls successfully scored their first point, it did not last long as Newcastle West powered back with 4 more points. nearing the end of the first half Mungret St. Pauls found their feet ans scored a goal and 2 points to Newcastle West goal and a point. Half time whistle saw Mungret St. Pauls 5 points down and it seemed as if the ref had not received the team sheet as he was busy taking Mungret St. Pauls players names in his book handing out 5 yellow cards.

The second half was much the same for Mungret St. Pauls but with less card. Newcastle West opened the restart with Mungret St. Pauls replying. Another try on goal for Mungret St. Pauls was saved followed by another point a piece. Mungret St. Pauls seemed to get into their stride as they scored another point. There was another point a piece until Newcastle West took control and continued to add to their score with another 5 points finishing the game off with their second goal. Thank you to the players and mentors who put in their time and dedication to this team.
