Mungret St. Pauls GAA club was one of only 18 Clubs selected to participate in the initial pilot Phase of the Healthy Club Project, now there are 150 clubs across the 32 counties participating in the GAA’s Healthy Club project which is into Phase 3. Almost 220 clubs applied to participate in Phase 3 highlighting the progressive nature of Mungret St. Pauls GAA Club who have been a front runner in developing this initiative. Mungret St. Pauls have many successful initiatives around the Healthy Club model, we run a 10K as well as a Kids run annually which is in its 8th year and has proved to be a fantastic success, Men on the Move and Women on the Move projects which have run over the past two years have had huge attendances as has our Operation Transformation walk and weight loss project which will be rolled out again in the New Year. WE have created many great partnerships with local business’s including Limerick Sports Partnership, the HSE and Dooradoyle Men’s Shed to name but a few, all of whom are working together to make our community a Healthy Community.

The Mungret St. Pauls Healthy Club are always looking for new members to join in with ideas and help in moving the club on to the next level to deliver programmes that support members physical, emotional, and social wellbeing.

We are delighted to be able to acknowledge Irish Life in their fantastic contribution in Grants to the GAA Healthy Clubs with all funds being used to promote health and well being in the Club and community.

The Healthy Club Project is supported by Healthy Ireland, the HSE, the National Office for Suicide Prevention and Irish Life, the award-winning project aims to transform clubs into hubs for health in their communities. The GAA already makes a significant contribution to the health of the population through the promotion and provision of Gaelic Games. Participating Healthy Clubs seek to expand their positive influence beyond the playing field by implement policies, partnerships, and programmes designed to support the physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of their communities.
