Mungret St. Pauls 1-19 Garryspillane 2-22
With a last minute venue change it was a game of 4 halves with all the goals in extra time and frees keeping Mungret St. Pauls in the game. Mungret St. Pauls pulled themselves back into the game only to run out of time to finish.
Garryspillane had the lead for the majority of the match with pressure put on early in the Mungret St. Pauls goals it was expertly sent away. Garryspillane went 2 points up from frees before Mungret St. Pauls pointed their first free. Garryspillane took over and pointed another 3 before Mungret St. Pauls replied with a point. There were another 2 points a piece leaving Mungret St. Pauls 3 points behind. Garryspillane came down hard on the backs on the goal line again with all the Mungret St. Pauls working together they cleared the ball out to result in another point for us. Finishing off the first half each point was equaled with Mungret St. Pauls trailing by 3 points.

The second half was a better game for Mungret St. Pauls which opened with another attempt on goals it was sent to a 65 for Garryspillane. Mungret St. Pauls then applied the pressure on Garryspillane and went 3 points unanswered. A wide for Garryspillane lead to a pointed placed ball. Into the last quarter of the game Mungret St. Pauls leveled the score only for Garryspillane to reply with four points for themselves. It was looking like Mungret St. Pauls were loosing their grip but they turned the game and with 3 minutes left to full time, drew level again. Into injury time an opportunity to go a point up was handed to Mungret St. Pauls in our thirteenth free, like all the frees before that it was sent perfectly over the cross bar. Just before the whistle was blown on full time Garryspillane squeezed in an equaliser. Extra time was declared.
Garryspillane shone in extra time opening with 2 points Mungret St. Pauls sent the ball in short infront of the goals, a short tussle saw the ball hit the back of the net for the first goal in the game, giving Mungret St. Pauls their second lead of the game but it was short lived when Garryspillane mirrored the play with their own goal. Another point a piece closed out the first 10 minutes of extra time.
The last ten minutes of action, Mungret St. Pauls needed goals to keep them in the game with each try denied, Garryspillane secured their win with a goal and a point. Our minor players can hold their heads up, as they played great games throughout the championshipand have worked very well as a team. The team, parents and club would like to thank the management for all their hard work though the year.
