Mungret St. Pauls 1-14 Garryspillane 1-14

The rain did not give up on Tuesday 11 September in Doon throughout the Limerick Motor Centre sponsored Premier Intermediate Hurling match which came down to the wire and when it was really needed Mungret St. Pauls stood up to take on their challenge. While Mungret St. Pauls were still recovering from their Sunday match Garryspillane were fresh on their feet but Mungret St. Pauls kept in touch with the score. Mungret St. Pauls took an early lead going 0-4 to 0-2 up until Garryspillane replied to draw the game on 4 all. It went point for point for the next 4 scores each and Mungret St. Pauls closed off the half with 3 placed balls all pointed to give them a 3 point lead and advantage for the second half.

On the return a chance on a sideline score was struck just left of the post but another free brought the 4 point lead Mungret St. Pauls needed but a free and penalty for Garryspillane diminished any lead. Garryspillane were striking frees wide while Mungret St. Pauls put theirs to good use. 2 points from play and one from a free saw Garryspillane take their 3 point lead an what looked like the game with time ticking away in injury time the ball was sent toward the goal from a free by the sideline to be found by a Mungret St. Pauls hurley and send in the right direction of the net, this was met with a renounding cheer from the great support in attendance at the match as the game drew level yet again. The ful time whistle came before the ball was to declare a winner. A draw was a good result from this game with 2 more to go Mungret St. Pauls are a game ahead but still topping the group table.
