Mungret St. Pauls 1-10 Bruff 0-14
In a cat and mouse game in Croom on Saturday 8 September the Limerick Motor Centre sponsored Premier Intermediate team took on Bruff where it came down to the last score wins. Bruff took an early lead with Mungret St. Pauls first chance went wide but a placed ball with a score from play brought the game back to level score. Another 2 points a piece brought the game back again to draw. Mungret St. Pauls then got a chance to take a lead when they were awarded a penalty which was fired into the back of the net and boosted the players a bit. Bruff converted 3 of their 5 awarded frees to narrow the gap but Mungret St. Pauls saw the break out with 3 more points leaving the pitch 4 points in lead. The second half was where Mungret St. Pauls struggled to secure their points with a week free sent straight to the goalies hand, Bruff were not so loose on their frees and added another unanswered 3 points. A good 10 minutes into the second half before Mungret St. Pauls added to their score with Bruff cancelling it out, then Mungret St. Pauls had a chance to score a second goal only to strike it too soft again and straight to the goalie. A possible change to the game as a second penalty was awarded to Mungret St. Pauls only to be saved, a point for Mungret St. Pauls was followed by Bruff attacking our backs with their attempt on a goal very skillfully stopped to a pointed 65 for them. With 8 minutes left in the game Bruff took another point on which brought the game back to a draw for the third time. Mungret St. Pauls and Bruff were making the sliotar dizzy by going from one 21 yard line to the other without scoring.

With the game getting tense Mungret St. Pauls were shoot wild balls to the wrong side of the uprights and Bruff hitting the post on a scond chance of a goal, it was in injury time that Mungret St. Pauls gave away another scoring free and Bruff put it to use to take the win. Mungret St. Pauls gave a lot of chances to Bruff with 9 of their scores coming from frees, Mungret St. Pauls only scored from 5 frees. This was the first loss in the championship for Mungret St. Pauls with them out again on Tuesday in Doon against Garryspillane.
