Mungret St. Pauls 0-19 Kildimo Pallaskenry 2-11.
Going into this game in Clarina on Thursday 30 September the Limerick Motor Centre sponsored, Mungret St. Pauls toped the table after 2 wins and they were to face into a team that had not lost a game in 17 months, the run for Kildimo Pallaskenry ended in this Championship clash.
Mungret St. Paus came flying out of the blocks while Kildimo Pallaskenry had a slow first half. Mungret St. Pauls rack up three scores, before a pointed free put Kildimo Pallaskenry on the score board. The pattern continued, and Mungret St. Pauls won a lot of the breaks and scored some very nice points, frees were keeping Kildimo Pallaskenry in touch. Mungret St. Pauls had managed to rack up a healthy 9 point lead, but in the final few minutes of the first half, Kildimo Pallaskenry finally upped the tempo and gained a bit of an advantage but at half-time Mungret had a strong lead Mungret 0-13 Kildimo/Pallaskenry 0-6.
Mungret St. Pauls battled away gamely and did enough to stop Kildimo Pallaskenry ever getting a decent run of scores and always kept their noses in front. When Kildimo Pallaskenry won a free about 25 metres out, they took the free quickly and buried it past the keeper while some of the Mungret St. Pauls backs were out of position.
The goal shook Mungret St. Pauls while Kildimo Pallaskenry continued to take advantage and closed the gap further. With just 10 minutes to go, the gap had been cut to just three points and a score was needed by Mungret St. Pauls and were able to take the sting out of the game, and got the vital next score before opening the lead out to 5. Into injury time, Kildimo Pallaskenry won another free, and their goalie unleashed a piledriver past the Mungret St. Pauls backs on the line.
This was a great game from both sides which was well supported and the result leaves Mungret St. Pauls on top of the table which is a big improvement from last year.
