Mugret St. Pauls 2-16 Ballybrown 4-12
Patrickswell was the venue for a fine evenly contested fixture that went right down to the wire on Monday 11 June. Ballybrown were quick out of the traps with a first minute goal from an overhead strike from the full forward but with two quick points from Denis Giltenane and Brian Tobin we were up and running. Points were exchanged before Brian Barry drew parity with a point from inside his own half. As the wide count began to accumulate for both sides Ballybrown again found the net this time from the boot from the in rushing corner forward. Again we rallied with 2 points , one from play from Daniel Larkin and another from a free from Conor Garvey . After 25 minutes we were rewarded from a fine passage of play when Daniel goaled to put us ahead by two points .Again Ballybrown drew level but a purple patch which yielded 5 points saw us leading at the short whistle by 1-11 to 2-3. We extended our lead to seven early in the second half while Ballybrown were finding it difficult to find the target with four wides on the bounce. As both sides introduced some fresh legs Ballybrown benefited most , scoring 1-4 without reply to draw level. Again Mungret St. Pauls steamed ahead with a free from Brian but almost immediately Ballybrown scored their fourth goal from a strike from 25 yards aided by the goalmouth AstroTurf to lead by 2. A goal from Chams Jagana and a point each from Brian and Daniel had us leading by 3 points with 5 mins to go. But Ballybrown finished the stronger, out scoring us by 5 points to 1 to win by 2.
