Mungret: 4-10 Drom/Broadford: 4-06
The Mungret St. Pauls ladies U-16 footballers had a very hard fought victory over a gallant Drom/Broadford side in the final of the County League – Section B Cup final at LIT on Monday 6 May. Mungret St. Pauls started the brighter and scored three cracking goals in the first half to lead at half-time on a scoreline of 3-08 to 2-03 and only for hitting the woodwork on no fewer than three occasions, would have been out of sight. But this was a game of two halves and Drom/Broadford battled strongly and went into the lead by a point well into the second half. A goal from a free (after hitting the crossbar for the fourth time!) settled the team and Mungret ran out winners on a final scoreline of 4-10 to 4-06.
This was a fine performance from a group of girls who have worked very hard so far this season and the quality of hand-passing and teamwork up and down the pitch was a joy to watch. This bodes well for the Championship later in the year. A special word of thanks to the parents and supporters who attended at LIT on Monday.
