It was with great sadness on Saturday morning 30 December when we heard of the sudden passing of James. We would like to extend our sincerest sympathy to the Markham and Malone family, children Shane, Seamus and Michelle and their partners and children. James was predeceaced by his wife Pauline (nee Malone).
James was a chairman of our juvenile club during a very successful time which saw the club win U-12 hurling and football county final doubles for three years as well as a number of other underage successes. James was a most approachable affable and fair chairman. He was very proud to see his sons win county medals at minor hurling level. Shane was a member on the last team to win the premier county minor hurling in 1993.
As a player James has an incrediable record which will probably never be equaled. In 1962 he was a member of the only Limerick City VEC to win the coveted All Ireland and in the final James scored six goals and one point in a six point victory over Kilkenny.
James left a great legacy and it was a privledge for those to have known him.
