Mungret St. Pauls 0-13 Bruff 0-13
Five years ago these two teams met on the same pitch in Ballyagran in a County Junior B Final. On that occasion Bruff were declared winners with the score 1-11 to 0-11.
This was an even enough game with Mungret St. Pauls and Bruff both getting their fair share of scoring frees, it was what they did with it that made the difference. Mungret St. Pauls was first to score from a free and followed it up with another 2 scores before Bruff broke through on the 8th minute to put up their first score this was accompanied with 2 wides from Bruff and one for Mungret St. Pauls. On the 15 minute mark Bruff added another point from a 65, they proceeded to score another 4 points unanswered taking the lead with them. Just before the half time whistle Mungret St. Pauls managed another point but Bruff struck another 2 taking a 4 point lead.
Mungret St. Pauls needed to up their game but had the slope to their advantage. Straight into the game and Mungret St. Pauls lost 2 chances to score. Bruff did not waste time to put the sliotar over the bar at the other end. Mungret St. Pauls got some momentum and scored another 5 points to Bruffs one point. The lead was narrowed down to one point making the game very interesting. Three more points from play brought the game to a draw with Bruff notching up one and Mungret St. Pauls seeing two for them.
This brought the game into the final 10 minutes and every bodies eyes were on the sliotar as Mungret St. Pauls kept the ball in the Bruff half a missed free was closely followed by a point for Mungret St. Pauls. bruff were off target 3 times in a row with Mungret St. Pauls accepting the 2 point advantage with a pointed free, another free was sent to the wrong side of the uprights. It was into injury time that 2 frees for Bruff brought the game to a close with only Limerick GAA delighted with the result of a draw and a replay.
