Mungret St. Pauls 0-21 Effin 1-10
Limerick Motor Centre sponsored Premier Intermediate played the last game in the group against Effin on Sunday 17 September, this was a rehearsal to the relegation play off in the next week.
The sun was strong as both sides opened their game with wides and then Mungret St. Pauls lead the way popping over 2 points before Effin after 2 wides placed their first point in just under the 10th minute. Mungret St. Pauls did not sit back and took charge again and sent in another 4 points before Effin got to reply with another point. 4 points for Mungret St. Pauls saw Effin with only another 2 when a low ball was sent to go over the Effin cross bar for the goalie to get his stick in first. With minutes left on the clock Effin received a free and sent it wide while Mungret St. Pauls sent over one more point before the whistle.
The second half had Effin come back a bit stronger and giving Mungret St. Pauls a better game, the first 10 minutes of the game Mungret St. Pauls struggled to get their 3 points and Effin were aiming to the cross bar converting 4 points to bring the gap closer. Mungret St. Pauls were loosing their men and these free men were actively seeing for the ball and making use of it. it was point for point in the next 6 scores. Mungret St. Pauls were being put under pressure in the back lines many times, with a lot of tussles, most of the time the ball was sent back out the field and Mungret St. Pauls saw use for the ball adding another 2 points In the last 2 minutes of the game, Effins pressure eventually weakened the back and the ball slipped into the back of the goal, this was too late for a recovery for Effin as Mungret St. Pauls concluded the game on a point.
They play each other again in what will be a different game as both play to stay in the Premier Intermediate.
