Mungret St. Pauls 7-19 Ballybrown 3-4
A game of goals played against the neighbours resulting in the Mike O'Connell sponsored Mungret St. Pauls holding the City Junior B Hurling title again in Claughaun on 3 September.
Mungret St. Pauls started out very strong in the first few minutes not letting Ballybrown getting in many touches on the sliotar until the 11th minute when they were a goal and 3 points behind, Ballybrown sent the ball for a point from a free. Mungret St. Pauls built up a generous score in the first half with 4 goals and 8 points while Ballybrown closed the half with their second free pointed.
The second half was a different game with Ballybrown getting to the ball quicker and fighting on their attack while Mungret St. Pauls stood back after doing a lot of the work in the first half. A goal and point to Ballybrown saw Mungret St. Pauls pop over 3 points, with Ballybrown requiring goals our backs were put under a lot of strain with each scoring ball heading to them, the cleared ball was worked up the pitch and launched for a point or more additional goals. There were not many wides in this half but Mungret St. Pauls almost doubled their first half score.
This was a very civilized game with an outstanding finish for Mungret St. Pauls.
Well done to the players, mentors and supporters.
