Mungret St. Pauls 1-10 Galbally 3-9
The Intermediate match took us to Hospital on Friday 4 August. The sun was out for the match to see Galbally steer their way through to a 5 point win.
A free for Galbally at the opening of the game directed the way the rest of the match was to play out with Mungret St. Pauls being on the wrong side of the frees for most of the game but Galbally getting more names in the refs book. A few minutes into the game and Mungret St. Pauls had the ball seen to the back of the Galbally net ,with Galbally pushing hard on our back they were denied 2 chances on goal while popping over 3 points to Mungret St. Pauls 2. Mungret St. Pauls still held a narrow lead until Galbally were third time lucky to get the ball into the net. By the end of the first quarter Mungret St. Pauls passed another 2 balls over the bar to bring the game to a draw 5 minutes later and a point a piece the game came to a draw for the last time. Two frees pointed and two more from play for Galbally saw the game to the half time score.
Straight into the second half Galbally broke through the Mungret St. Pauls defense and smashed the net. Mungret St. Pauls had the wind in this half and were the only team to get a chance on points sending 7 balls wide and also notched up a square ball while only converting 5 points in this half. Mungret St. Pauls had narrowed the lead but Galbally ended the this half the way they started it with their last score of a goal. This saw the game to the end with Mungret St. Pauls playing a game of football while Galbally crowded them on the field.
