Mungret St. Pauls 2-13 Patrickswell 2-13
A good result for Mungret St. Pauls who have had better days, some impressive scoring from both sides.
The rain held off on Friday 21 July when Patrickswell came to Mungret for the Minor game. There was a great crowd of supporters for both teams. Mungret St. Pauls lost the ball on a chance for a goal to open the game. It was a point a piece before Patrickswell got their own chance and sent the ball to the net, followed by a point Patrickswell were leading the game and held the lead through to the last few minutes.
This opening half of the game had most shots on target, the pressure was put on Patrickswell as they shot 4 wides in a row near the closing stages of the first half and pointed a free before the whistle.
Mungret St. Pauls were struggling to hold possession of the ball. Patrickswell brought the gap further away from Mungret St. Pauls when a few minute into the restart they had an additional point and their second goal leaving Mungret St. Pauls 7 points behind. Looking like they were really struggling the ball was sent to the Mungret St. Pauls forward line and the gap was closed in when the Patrickswell net was rattled, followed by a pointed free. A lot of work needed to be done on the field but the heads were still up and seeking the ball. Patrickswell added 4 more points with only one from play while Mungret St. Pauls ticked 2 onto their score sheet both frees just before the game came back into itself with Mungret St. Pauls striking their second goal of the game. Another free pointed by Mungret St. Pauls brought the gap to one point. The game clincher, a sideline ball was declared for Mungret St. Pauls with everyone watching the sliotar which was struck perfectly between the uprights, the game is a draw. Patrickswell needed a win but it was 2 more pointed frees a piece that confirmed the final score in a draw.
Mungret St. Pauls next meet Doon on Thursday 27 July in Mungret which should be another good game.
