Mungret St. Pauls 2-8 Kilpeacon 1-9
A tight game in Caherally on Monday 10 July against a team that put it up to our players but Mungret St. Pauls kept the flow going to come out on top.
There was a threat of rain for most of the match and we were lucky to not see it. The pitch had been freshly cut which left no grip once the grass caught on the players boots. The first half was a slow start with low score, it looked more like Kilpeacon having the majority of the possession but Mungret St. Pauls took their chance when they could and had the bare lead of one point at half time 0-4 to 0-5. The second half brought a more interesting game with Mungret St. Pauls still holding the lead and a the ball struck to the left corner of the net for Mungret St. Pauls brought a bounce to the players only for Kilpeacon to be presented with a penalty which they converted taking the lead over with 2 points. Mungret St. Pauls did not let this rest and stayed persistent on taking the ball up the field and with minutes left on the clock the ball was sent in all directions infront of the Kilpeacon goal hitting the bar and crossing in front and back again but it was eventually enticed across the line and declared a second goal for Mungret St. Pauls. Another free pointed gave Mungret St. Pauls a 2 point win.
