Mungret St. Pauls 4-17 Ahane 2-19
In a game where the goals were all played in the first half and the points scored by both teams evened the second half.
On Friday 7 July in Ahane Mungret St. Pauls came out of the blocks and were quick to the score with an opportune goal but Ahane were quick to follow this up with 3 points. Another point a piece saw Ahane traveling to our backs where the ball was shot to the back of the net giving Ahane their only lead of the game. On the 15 minute mark Mungret St. Pauls claimed the third goal of the game, quickly accompanied with Mungret St. Pauls third goal. With 3 more points Ahane evened the score again, Mungret St. Pauls were low on points, they worked together and place 2 balls over the bar and one in the net for their forth goal of the game. In the final stages of the first half Ahane got the sliotar past the defense into the net for the second time, this was along with 2 more points while Mungret St. Pauls pointed 3 more from play.
Half time had Mungret St. Pauls with a 4 point lead and as we had seen it could be quenched in seconds with a goal.
The second half was a slower start with wides for both sides, each point Mungret St. Pauls placed Ahane returned with one of their own. While there were many great placed ball there were two points to be mentioned in this half for Mungret St. Pauls the first was the sideline cut that was seen perfectly placed between the uprights. The second was when it looked like the ball was going to go over the sideline only to roll to a stop in the dip of the sideline waiting to be picked up and sent over the Ahane cross bar. Ahane concluded the game with their last point and with the same 4 point lead at half time Mungret St. Pauls took the win.
