Mungret St. Pauls 1-12 Ballybrown 1-15
A fight to the end for control of the game, not Mungret St. Pauls sharpest game in Ballybrown on Tuesday 4 July.
Ballybrown took a point lead in the early stages of the game with Mungret St. Pauls sending 3 chances wide before they settled into the game. The score leveled out 4 times before Mungret St. Pauls returned the Ballybrown puck out back for a 2 point lead. Ballybrown did not rest and came back into the game. There was no scores for a while as the ball was sent up and down the pitch until Ballybrown was rewarded an opportunity in front of the goals, they went for a goal but it was sent to our goalies hurley and out the pitch only to return as a point for Ballybrown, another free to Ballybrown gave them a margin of a lead at half time (8 points Mungret St. Pauls, 9 points for Ballybrown).
After a few words at half time Mungret St. Pauls came out and drew the game back even only for Ballybrown to go 3 points ahead, the last was another free infront of the goals but they opted for the safer choice of a point. Mungret St. Pauls seemed to lose their grasp on the game giving frees and making some poor choices but when the ball was sent in front of the Ballybrown goals with only 5 minutes left on the clock, it was wrestled into the back of the net to make the game more interesting. Ballybrown then sent the action to our own goals where the shot on the goal was skilfully stopped but rebounded back in by Ballybrown this meant Mungret St. Pauls had to work harder with the minutes ticking away. Another 2 points for Mungret St. Pauls left the final score with a 3 point loss. This was a physical clean game for the neighbours.
