Mungret St. Pauls 0-16 Galtee Gaels 2-4
A great day and performance from the footballers in what was our celebratory day for the Clubhouse celebration on Saturday 1 July.
It was a slow starting game for Mungret St. Pauls with Galtee Gaels scoring first it took Mungret St. Pauls 10 minutes to get the ball over the cross bar but made up for it by following that with another 3 points in as man minutes. We took possession of most of the kickouts and were very unlucky when the ball was send for a goal to be hit out and rebounded back by a Galtee Gaels player into the net, taking any lead we had built up away. Mungret St. Pauls stayed working away managing to get some balls over with the wind coming across the pitch causing a few wides for both sides. Half time saw the game on an even score with plenty more left for the second half.
Mungret St.Pauls were quicker off the mark in the second half getting in a quick point followed by 5 unanswered points. We then made the mistake of gifting a penalty to Galtee Gaels early on in the third quarter to be converted. Mungret St. Pauls made use of the wings and worked the ball up the pitch well, with the younger members of the team making a name for themselves.
It was great to see this was played by both teams more like a football match should be with plenty of high ball and kicking.
