On Friday 23 June our U-14 footballers took to the bus as they head northward to Co. Cavan where Ramor United are busy preparing for their appearance. With the team ready, supporters and parents excited looking forward to the throw in for the first match of the feile peile 2017.
First team up gave Mungret St. Pauls a tight match against Sarsfields, Wexford with the opposition having a goal advantage over our guys at half time they came back well and pulled a point win over Sarsfields, a great way to open the weekend. Mungret St. Pauls 2.04 Sarsfields 2.03
The second match was against Croserlough where Mungret St. Pauls were on fire and it showed on the score board taking the win with a sizeable difference Mungret St. Pauls 5.14 Crosserlough 1.02.
24 players saw action on day 1 of feile. Great skill and heart from all our players.
On Saturday 24 June another hard match for our players against hosts Ramor. A point behind at half time they could not let the host team win and took this win also with the score Mungret St. Pauls 0-7 Ramor Utd 0-4
They topped the group to go ahead to the quarter finals this is where they met Knockavilla and with yet again another good first half performance they took into the breeze in the second half but this did not bother these guys as they took a win leaving Knockavilla with one point in each half. Mungret St. Pauls 2-7 Knockavilla 0.02
It was great to see the children up bright and early and ready for another day of football, where they play the Semi final against St. Bridgets and being slow to get going in the first half they kept tipping away putting in the score any chance they had to see them into the Division 3 Cup final this was their toughest match all tournament but they put their heart and energy into the game but were unlucky to not get any score in the second half. This dream team were brought to an end by Castleknock on a score Mungret St. Pauls 0-04 Castleknock 4-05.
The players and mentors have served the club, coaches and parents proudly, most of all they showed themselves to be great footballers and fine young people. Thank you to everyone who traveled and supported the children and to our host club our biggest Thank you for taking care of our players and coaches for the weekend. We really appreciate how welcoming you were to us all.
