Since the last update the U12 hurlers have continued to play in the U12 13 a side and 11 a side leagues and play a challenge game against Éire Óg, Nenagh. In the challenge game Nenagh brought an A and B team and Mungret lined up the same way. The A team played a very strong group of players and gave themselves too much to do in the second half after giving Nenagh an easy first half. Nenagh ran out easy winners. The B team dominated this competitive game from start to finish and ran out comfortable winners. Thanks to the players and coaches from Éire Óg, Nenagh for travelling into us for two very good sporting games.
Back to the U12 13 a side hurling league where the boys played away to Ahane. The players were focused early on and demonstrated their team and individual skills levels to run out comfortable winners. In the last game in stage one of the this non-competitive league the players played Na Pairsaigh last week in cool and windy conditions. The players attacked the ball from early but were not taking all their scoring opportunities. Once they settled in and got used to the windy conditions they started to pick off some great scores. Mungret utilized the elements to the full advantage in the second half after being under pressure at the start of the second half. In the end Mungret ran out easy winners and finished stage one with 3 win and one draw. They now awaiting details of the second stage.
The 11 a side team played one game against Ballybricken/Bohermore. Even though Ballybricken/Bohermore ran out easy winners looking at the scoreboard, the players gave a great performance. The difference between the teams was down to execution. Ballybricken/Bohermore took their goal opportunities very well in the first half and the Mungret players missed four great goal chances. The skills, effort, determination were on display for all to see and the players won the second half. These set of players are up next against Muroe Boher U12A team and the re-arranged game against Kildimo Pallaskenry.
