U14s Ladies Football vs Oola B Cup Final - Mungret’s 3-07  4-06 Oola
Our U14 ladies football team travelled to Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale on Monday evening to play Oola in the B Cup final.
It was a game that any senior male county team would have being proud to be part of.  Having previously beaten Oola in a tight game earlier in the season, the girls were only too aware that a serious game was ahead of them.
The first half was a closely fought match with both sides playing to their best, It was a fast paced half with Oola closing out the first half with a one point lead after hitting the woodwork on a few occasions.
Mungret St Pauls started off the second half swiftly with a well taken goal. This fired up the Mungret ladies who then took the lead with another 2 goals and a point, but, as we well knew, Oola would not give up without a fight,
Sure enough, Oola responded with counter scores on the other end of the field. The tension and passion on the field was electric, Oola scored their fourth goal putting Mungret on the backfoot at a critical stage of the game.
But  Mungret St Pauls continued to play their skillful passing game, but only found themselves losing out narrowly on a final score line of Oola  4-06 to Mungret’s 3-07.
Our girls have trained hard two nights a week since January, they have applied great dedication to the game and represented the club to the very highest standards.  While they did not get the Trophy they deserved this time, they can all hang up their boots ‘temporarilly’  knowing they have the winning combination of dedication, accountability and leadership.  On a season where they have only lost to the County Feile Champions, the A Cup Winners and the B Cup winners we all know these girls ‘will be back’.
