On a busy week for our U-14 ladies football team, we had an away match in Banogue vs Dromin/Athlacca/Banogue last Wednesday evening and the final phase 2 group game against Fr Casey’s on Sunday last on the senior pitch.
On a beautiful evening in Banogue, Mungret started well with a few quick scores but Dromin/Athlacca/Banogue began to come more into the game and went on to lead at half time by a single point.  In the second half we gained the upper hand early and after a few minutes began to get the scores our play deserved. We continued to dominate the second half and out winners on a score-line of 7-07 to 4-01.

Our game on Sunday evening was a different affair. As Fr. Caseys had previously lost to Dromin/Athlacca/Banogue, they needed to win to ensure a three way tie at the top of the group. Fr Casey’s started off in a determined mood and maintained their intensity for the entire duration of the game.  All of the Fr. Casey’s U-14 Limerick players were available to them and they showed their strength in the air and in the tackle and made our girls work very hard in both halves. When we had possession we struggled to get through their mid-field and half back lines and when we did their full-back line blocked every shot and smothered every move forward.  Although behind for all the game, they were still in touch until Fr Casey’s scored two quick goals in the second half. From there, they added on a number of points and finished with 4-12 to our 0-01.  Despite this score-line, there were many magnificent performances on our side with much to admire in our attitude to keep going to the very end of the game.
