Sunday morning last Clarenbridge from Galway and St Marys Clonmel, Tipperary came down to Mungret St Paul’s on route to watching Galway defeat Tipperary in the National League Division 1 final in the Gaelic Grounds. It was like a beautiful summers day with the pitch in great condition. First game up was between Clarenbridge v Mungret St Pauls. Unfortunately for Mungret players Clarenbridge brought their A game and we never got going. Clarenbridge showed us some lovely ground hurling, short passing with the hurley, greater determination to win the ball and exceptional team play. Next up was St Mary Clonmel v Mungret. This was a much improved performance, however the loss in the first game still played on the players’ minds and St Mary’s ran out comfortable winners. The third game saw Clarenbridge outgun St Marys Clonmel in a very good game of hurling. Thanks to Seamus Hayes for refereeing the games, Helen McKeogh for looking after the refreshments for the parents and children from all three teams and the players and mentors who travelled from Galway and Tipperary. All three games were played with exceptional spirit and respect. Thanks to all the Mungret St Paul’s players who were available for the games. Best of luck to the players as they start the U12 football and hurling leagues. Below is picture of the players from the three teams.
