Sympathies
Our deepest sympathies to all in Old Mill Ladies Football due to the untimely death of Aggie Kennelly. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Ar dheis De go raibh a hanam.
Senior & Junior Teams
Last Sunday our senior ladies team had their first outing of the season in the Div. 1 league away to St. Brigid’s. Our new team members integrated well in to a balance side that put in a great team performance. Mungret took the lead from the throw-in and managed to keep the scoreboard ticking over to keep their distance from St. Brigid’s. Mungret won comprehensively and were never troubled by a young St. Brigid’s side.
On Monday evening, our junior ladies side participated in Div 3 match away to Adare. Some of our players were making the transition from underage and really impressed on the evening. This game was a real ding dong battle, real end to end stuff, with every inch of grass being used. Scores were traded frequently and those on the sideline needed calculators to keep track due to the ferocity of the scoring. At half time Adare led by 4-07 to 2-06. The second half resumed with no drop in the pace. Both teams giving their all, and with just 4 minutes to go Mungret trailed by 4 points. Unfortunately the clock went against us and ran out of time to claw our way back in a very entertaining and competitive game with the full time score of Adare 7-10 to Mungret’s 7-09.
Under-age Ladies
Also on Monday evening our U16’s ladies hosted Knockainey in the league. With only thirteen players available our girls showed great determination, battling and fighting hard throughout the match. However, Knockainey proved to be the stronger team and ran out winners in the end. The burning question on the night “Was that a goal??”
Last Wednesday evening, our U14 ladies continued their winning ways with a comfortable win against a spirited St. Senan’s side. We had the opportunity to rest some of our ladies making their confirmation eager for their meeting the Bishop the following day. However, we had sufficient cover on the evening with our strong squad of 28 players. Our next game is away to Monagea on Wednesday evening.
Gaelic4Teens
Final preparations are underway for our Gaelic4Teens coaches and players. Next Tuesday they will be in Dublin (rumoured to be Croke Park) to take part in a series of activities ending up with a blitz on the day.
Academy Players
Our U12 continue with their league games and our U10s, U8s and U6s are taking part in the Academy on Saturday mornings.
